Following a recent District Team meeting a number of items were highlighted with regards to Adult Training and Support with in the district.

1. Validation of modules by a designated Training Advisor (TA) are requested to be emailed to ADC (AT) with the information of who has been validated, what modules and when the modules were signed off.  I encourage all adults on the training scheme to build a folder/portfolio of evidence gathered for each module.  Dependant on the module carried out the evidence may be required to be further submitted at Regional Level.

2. It is intended that validation sessions will be held around the District at various intervals during the year to assist TA’s with verifying any training undertaken by learners.

3. Getting Started training (modules 1-3) will be scheduled to run every 2 months (6 sessions), this will enable more people to complete necessary induction training.

4. First Aid Training, this will continue and be facilitated in the form of the one day HSE Emergency First Aid at Work (or Level 5 award - Scottish credit and qualification framework -  in First Aid) There will be 4 dates advertised for this, one of which will be available to Explorer’s. In addition, a 3 day HSE First Aid at Work course will also be advertised and aimed at those involved with more adventurous activities, eg, Water Sports, regular outdoor pursuits. The maximum number per course is 12.

5. The postponed Adult Training weekend from August 2010 will be pencilled Back into the 2011 diary, dates TBN.

Please remember that all adults are required to complete a minimum of 5 hours per year on going learning once they have gained their Woodbeads.
