Over recent weeks, I have had the pleasure of witnessing our Regional Commissioner
Dougie Simmers present several awards across Moray.
These awards show the dedication to scouting in Moray not only from leaders but also our
supports, those who are behind the scenes, but who are there to give that sure foundation.
Our scouting family in Moray is a very close team and through the years we have all at some
point shared stories, attended camps or occasions with each other and shared memories
with many of our recipients this year.
The awards from the Chiefs Scouts Commendations, Medal of Merit, Silver Acorn, and the
Silver Wolf show more than 300 collective years’ service to scouting in our District
I am sure you will all join with me in wishing each recipient a hearty congratulations in the
recognition of their awards.
I am sure nobody will mind if I give a particular mention to Anne and Bruce McLaren our
recipients of the Silver Wolf, our highest award. Both have been well known faces in Moray
and indeed throughout Scotland and afar.
It is a testament to their dedication in scouting in Moray and beyond that it has been
acknowledged by so many across Scotland on various social platforms. I know that their
advice and knowledge given to our young people and leaders has been gratefully received
over the years including by myself.
I am very proud as the DC of Moray to have leaders, supporters and young people that
enjoy their scouting and make it the success it is today, to each one I say thank you, and to
those especially listed below congratulations, all is well deserved.
