As we head towards the final few weeks before the summer holidays we have once again been working alongside our colleagues at YouthLink Scotland to provide the most up to date guidance for running Sections and taking part in excursions, expeditions and camps.
This update will take effect from Friday 18 June 2021, and significantly it removes the upper limit of 30 for both indoor and outdoor Scouting.
The updated guidance states that “following a risk assessment , a space-based approach should be taken in line with capacity guidance. Numbers permitted are to be based on the venue, provided physical distancing and other mitigations are in place”
It is also important to state that this applies to levels 0,1 and 2 only. In addition, Scout ratios must be applied at all times.
Please take some time to read the updated guidance carefully as some elements have changed and make sure that you plan carefully.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our colleagues at Youthlink Scotland for their support throughout this year as they have the unenviable task of listening and representing the sector, ensuring that guidance is interpreted for the safety of everyone and protecting the future of youthwork and maintaining experiences for young people.
Stay safe, and have a fantastic summer!
